Lilly Pilly is one of the best-known Australian rainforest plants and can be used as a single tree, in pots as a shrub or as a hedge. The Lilly Pilly tree has great adaptability to soils and can tolerate sandy or clay loams. The Lilly Pilly needs moist soils for rapid growth and a healthy appearance over summer while being established but will never tolerate drought or poor soil conditions. Flowers from the Lilly Pilly are pale cream/white with fleshy pink berries following.
As a tree the Lilly Pilly will grow into an upright oval tree maintaining its lower branches. When trained as a hedge it can be maintained to 4m tall and 2-3m wide and can grow to 5-6m.
